A model as a reference makes it a lot easier to draw something. So I made this Triceratops skull out of air drying clay and painted it with acrylics. This was a lot of fun to do and I am really happy with the result.
I started with a photo (side) of a Top's skull, modelling over it in one direction. After that I literally had half of the head ^^ For the next model I will try to fix the skull on some wire so that I dont have to hold it in one hand all the time or put it on the working table. Working on both sides of the head at the same time should be easier as well.
The jaw was done as a single piece, with some wire as a base. The joints fit that well into the skull, that it can be moved like a real jaw and doesnt even fall off when the skull is picked up.
I can say, I am really proud of this. ^^
So, what may I do next? A predator like Allosaurus or a Rex maybe? A sabertooth would be interesting as well.
Special thanks to Martin Markes, that helped me taking the pictures. You're the man!
